Large End of the Day Flower Vase with a Reddish Violet Lip Wrap

This is a beautiful end of the day vase was made with shards. Shards are broken pieces of glass that were left over from previous projects. As we blow glass on a blow pipe, not all of it comes off in our piece. Any glass left on the iron is mainly used as stability, this includes clear and colored glass! When we are done with our piece, the glass left on that iron naturally cools and violently break off. Now we don’t throw that glass away because glass does not lose its elasticity. Meaning, it’s just as strong as the first time we melt it to the third time we melt it. So, we try to utilize any leftover glass that has color and use it in some of our classes and use the clear glass to put back in our furnace. We preheat the shard colors in a kiln at 950 degrees and work with students to pick it up in their piece and melt them down into their project. With that being said, we recycle about 99% of our glass!

Cheese Platter

Blow a huge bubble & spin it into a platter! Our instructors will guide you to roll into color, heat the glass and use a variety of the glass blowers’ tools. Then, using gravity & centripetal force, spin the glass until it opens into a platter (10-12” wide)
